Curtain’s Up at HSC (BRC)
It’s a Family Reunion as Hudson Stage Company presents A Number and A Kind of Alaska beginning on Friday, May 2, in Briarcliff.
Hudson Stage Company presents Family Reunion, two of England’s greatest playwrights presented in tandem on May 2–17 at the Woodward Hall Theatre at Pace’s Briarcliff location.
In Harold Pinter’s A Kind of Alaska, inspired by Awakenings by Oliver Sacks, Deborah wakes up after 29 years in a coma induced by sleeping sickness to find that she does not know who she is now. Her only sense of herself is how she was at the age of 16, the year she was struck down.
“A masterpiece. Profoundly eloquent about the fragile joy of being alive.” –The Daily Telegraph
A NUMBER by Caryl Churchill begins with a simple question: Am I a clone or not? Churchill’s play is no simple warning against the perils of science messing with nature, but a complex and humane study of parental guilt, regret, and responsibility.
“An astonishing event. Moving, thought-provoking and dramatically thrilling.” – London Telegram
