Koresh Dance Company: Come Together
Friday and Saturday, February 6 and 7 | 7:30 p.m. | Schimmel Center

"Dance is beautiful, sensuous, empowering, inspiring. Dance is the purest art of all—it is poetry in motion, it is sculpture come to life, it is literature, communication without words."—Roni Koresh

Roni Koresh is a choreographer, teacher, and collaborator whose unique blend of ballet, modern, and jazz leaves audiences dazzled by the raw passion that is infused into his movement. He formed Philadelphia’s Koresh Dance Company in 1991 and quickly established an international reputation for highly technical and emotionally charged work. In this work, Come Together, the audience takes a musical journey with composers from Israel and Turkey set alongside Chopin, Beethoven, Ravel, and more. The piece's compelling work, which juxtaposes Middle Eastern music with classical favorites, shares with the audience both the grounded, driving, earthy rhythms of the old world with the ethereal, heavenly, sounds of the new.

See the company that The Los Angeles Times calls "fresh, urgent and deeply persuasive."For a sneak video preview, click here.

A STEAM project with Koresh Dance Company has been made possible with a grant from Time Warner Cable.
