Innovation in Teaching Grants 2017

Pace University is dedicated to supporting curricular innovation through technology. Read more about this year’s grant recipients and their plans to change the way Pace students learn.
Technology has had a profound impact on teaching and learning over the past several years and in recognition of that, Pace has piloted an innovation grant program to support curricular innovation through the use of technology. Pace is proud to announce that it has funded five innovative projects for course design/redesign and the sustained application of technology in the curriculum.
The faculty recipients of the 2016–2017 Innovation in Teaching Grants are:
-
>>Professor Karen Caldwell and Professor Joseph Krumpfer, Chemistry Department, Dyson College of Arts and Sciences (Pleasantville Campus): “Virtualization and Implementation of Spectroscopy”
-
-
>>Professor Jane Collins, English Department, Dyson College of Arts and Sciences (Pleasantville Campus): “Cellphone Strategies in the Classroom"
-
-
>>Professor Jennifer Hofman Ribowsky, Physician Assistant Studies Program, College of Health Professions (New York City Campus): “Concept Mapping as an Adaptive Learning Technology”
-
-
>>Professor Pauline Mosley, Information Technology Department, Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems (Pleasantville Campus): “Redesigning Problem-Solving Using Lego Robotics”
-
-
>> Professor Juan Shan, Computer Science Department, Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems (New York City Campus): “Team-Based Flipped Classroom”
These innovative teaching projects will implement technology in new or redesigned modules, courses, or programs. These projects will address the use of technology in courses to positively impact student engagement, learning, and outcomes. A further goal is to develop sustainable innovations that can be scaled across the institution, leading to the adoption of new academic technologies. All projects will be funded through faculty research awards and through the access to an Innovative Teaching Fund administered by ITS-Academic Technology (ITS-AT).
The awardees will present their projects at the 2017 Faculty Institute on May 16 and 17 on Pace’s New York City Campus.
