Law and Murder (PLV)
Two days, two library talks in PLV: one on crime and detective fiction and one on homicide featuring a retired detective.
It looks like there’s a twisted web of murder this April at Mortola Library. The Library hosts two talks on homicide and detective fiction.
The first on Monday, April 7, from 12:10 p.m. to 1:10 p.m., will feature English Professor Rebecca Martin, PhD, who will discuss her experiences researching and editing the book Critical Insights: Crime and Detective Fiction. The book, which examines practices of crime writing in American literature and as far as Japan, China, and Scandinavia, features essays that offer an introduction to the detective genre including chapters on Steig Larsson’s bestseller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Then on Tuesday, April 8, from 3:25 p.m. to 4:25 p.m., retired Detective Richard Sabol will discuss homicide investigations during his years with the Yonkers Police Department at Homicide: The Forgotten Victims. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Danny Sabol at email@example.com.
