Saturday, January 30 | 7:30 p.m.
Intrigued? Let us tell you more, tell you more. Things are about to get ultramatic as the Schimmel Center brings you the Sing-a-long-a version of the classic film starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, brought to you by the producers of Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music. “Summer Nights.” “Hopeless Devoted to You.” “You’re the One that I Want.” “Greased Lightnin’.” “Beauty School Drop-Out.” Ever wanted to know what it's like to be a T-bird or a Pink Lady but never quite felt cool enough to pull it off? Well, now is your chance to don those pink jackets, grease up those quiffs, and let your inhibitions go for an evening where you are the stars and, remember, Grease is the word...
The evening begins with your host leading a vocal warm-up before they show you how to use your free magic moments fun packs. You'll even get a chance to learn how to hand jive. Then just sit back and watch Danny, Sandy, and the gang, while singing and dancing along to the lyrics as shown on the screen. It couldn’t be easier... or more fun! Dressing up is strongly encouraged and full audience participation essential.
Silent Film: Diary of a Lost Girl
Sunday, January 31 | 2:00 p.m.
The iconic and darkly dramatic silent film directed by G.W. Pabst and starring 20s icon Louise Brooks tells the story of a young woman who goes from one situation to another attempting to better her life, finding adversity, love, and tragedy. Live piano accompaniment by Ben Model, curator of the silent films series, and one of the nation's leading silent film accompanists, performing on both piano and theater organ.
The Bacon Brothers
Saturday, February 6 | 7:30 p.m.
Our Bacon number is about to be 1! Long before Kevin Bacon launched his prolific stage and screen career, and before Michael Bacon became known as a go-to composer for film and television, the Bacon Brothers grew up playing music together in the city of Brotherly Love. Nearly 20 years ago, they decided to make it official and formed the Bacon Brothers. Their music, an infectious mix of rock, country, folk, and a little Philly soul, has fans dancing in their seats and singing along at every show. Now, years later, any cynical preconceptions about well-known actors “dabbling” in music can safely be discarded.
$10 student balcony tickets are available for advance purchase in person at the box office. Student rush orchestra tickets are available for purchase at the box office on the day of the performance (subject to availability).
Later in the semester, the Flying Karamazov Brothers, Great American Masters, American Showstoppers, Saturday Night Live! alumna Ana Gasteyer, and more. Read more about all events at http://schimmel.pace.edu.
