#TimesUp With Omega Phi Beta (PLV)
Omega Phi Beta is fighting back against systematic social injustice, and they want you to join them! Starting Monday, February 12, you're invited to a week of tough talks intended to spark discussion and positive change. Are you ready?
More Than a Label
Monday, February 12 | 9:17 p.m.–11:00 p.m. | Butcher Suite
Your willingness to examine your own bias is an important step in understanding the roots of where stereotypes and prejudice in our society stem from. Join Omega Phi Beta as they examine bias, privilege, and how we can all work to end systematic oppression in our daily lives.
Behind the Lens
Tuesday, February 13 | 9:17 p.m.–11:00 p.m. | Butcher Suite
The cost of textbooks for one semester can rack up a whopping $1,000 depending on a student's major. But what is it really like to walk in another millennial's shoes? Omega Phi Beta will be dividing participants into three groups for an activity that will simulate the experience of another student, including what advantages and disadvantages they have in society.
Let Me Take a Selfie
Wednesday, February 14 | 12:00 p.m.–2:00 p.m. | Kessel Well
Omega Phi Beta is taking a hard look at themselves. Are you game to do the same? Words of affirmation will be shared during this exercise to facilitate discussion about self-image and dig deep into how we truly see ourselves.
Color My World
Thursday, February 15 | 9:17 p.m.–11:00 p.m. | Kessel Multi-Purpose Room
Racism is literally everywhere, no matter how progressive you might think you are. Join in Omega Phi Beta's latest discussion as they tackle all the forms that colorism can take, and what effects they have on society.
Saturday, February 17 | 6:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m. | Willcox Multi-Purpose Room
To wrap up Week of Illumination, Omega Phi Beta will be hosting a dinner to celebrate diversity and encourage an ongoing discussion that will promote learning for many years to come!
