Section 13.   Committee on Scholastic Standing
 
a)     The Committee on Scholastic Standing is composed of 10 elected voting members of the NYFC.  One representative from the Provost’s Office and each Academic Dean’s Office will serve as ex officio members of the committee.

b)     The duties of the Committee on Scholastic Standing are:

i. To make policy recommendations to the NYFC on matters found  below;
ii. To evaluate and make recommendations implementing policies governing student scholarship at all levels throughout the University;
iii. To review existing honors and awards throughout the University and make recommendations for possible change;
iv. To devise ways and means of stimulating participation in the competitions for the special scholastic awards offered by the University and its departments;
v. To nominate candidates for academic honors as well as other honors and awards;


Section 14.   Committee on Student Publications
 
a)     The Committee on Student Publications is composed of 10 elected voting members of the NYFC. The Faculty Advisors or Moderators of the various student publications; the Dean for Students and the Director of Student Life are ex officio members of the committee.

b)     The duties of the Committee on Student Publications are:

i. To make policy recommendations to the NYFC on matters found below, and to oversee the administration of these policies;
ii. To serve as an advisory body to the individual faculty advisors and moderators of the various student publications and to the Dean for Students and the Director of Student Life regarding student publications.
iii. The duties of this committee do not include functioning as a body of de jure or de facto censors nor as a disciplinary body for possible transgressions by a student publication or its staff.
iv. The Chair of the Committee on Student Publications shall serve as an ex officio member of the Student Affairs Committee.

 

Section 15.   Committee on Athletics
 
a)      The Committee on Athletics is composed of 10 elected voting members of the NYFC. The Director of Athletics serves as an ex officio member of the committee.

b)     The duties of the Committee on Athletics are:

i. To make policy recommendation to the NYFC on matters found below;
ii. Recommends what sports the University should participate in on an intercollegiate and intramural basis;
iii. Recommends and oversees eligibility and recruitment criteria for participation in University athletics;
iv. Recommends the establishment of standards for awards in athletics.
