Welcome to the Department of Performing Arts on Pace University’s New York City campus.

If you are interested in a professional career in the performing arts, Pace University connects you with outstanding faculty who are working professionals, over thirty productions yearly for you to hone your performing skills and the wealth of opportunity that New York City has to offer.

At Pace it is possible that your freshman Music Theory class will be taught by a Broadway music director, your acting teacher could be appearing in a major motion picture, and your Audition Technique class will be taught by a working casting director. Our performance spaces range from the Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts, home to the taping of Inside the Actors’ Studio on Bravo; Schaeberle Theater, a smaller black box space; and Studio 501, home to many student directed productions. In addition, we call the city of New York our campus, with its tremendous cultural and educational resources just steps away.

We offer Bachelor of Fine Arts Degrees in Acting and in Musical Theater and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater Arts with specialized focuses in Acting, Directing or Design/Technical Theater.

All of our students are eligible to audition for Department shows, and, with approval from faculty, students are encouraged to audition for professional work in New York City.  In this manner, students can start to forge contacts that are essential to developing their career.

Through a balanced program of strong academics alongside conservatory style training, our graduates are prepared to enter the workplace as knowledgeable, disciplined artists devoted to the integrity, pursuit and preservation of their craft.
