Ten Finalists Come Out Swingin' at the Pace Pitch!
$50,000 in just three minutes. On December 3, 10 finalists will pitch their hearts out for some start-up dough at the 6th annual Pace Pitch Contest.
About 149 students from 36 schools applied for the 10 finalist slots to compete in the New Business Concept and Social Venture categories. The top 10 have been chosen, and each one is more interesting than the rest! Will Tears for Life, a company that is developing a tear-test kit to screen women for breast cancer, take home the New Business Concept prize, or will new local search engine, Seva Cell?

How Wall Street Tried to Get Its Groove Back

A chronicle of failure, New York Times reporter Andrew Ross Sorkin's Too Big to Fail is a behind-the-scenes account of how Wall Street's good fortune went broke and how Washington fought to save the financial system. On December 2, Sorkin will give a lecture and sign his book at the Schimmel |
Center in NYC. The first 25 students to arrive will receive a free copy of his book.

Cancer Doesn't Sleep and Neither Will We!

In the spring, Pace will host the 3rd annual Relay for Life, American Cancer Society's signature event. With a $60,000 goal, there is a lot of work to be done and it's all hands on deck! Join us at a kickoff on November 23 in PLV where you will get the 4-1-1 on goals and updates for Relay and receive |
help signing up teams. There will also be games, prizes, and food at the kickoff event.
Celebrate survivors, remember those we've lost, and fight back against a disease that touches too many lives. |
Pace Students United Against AIDS!

On December 1, students on both campuses will join people around the globe in raising awareness for World AIDS Day. In PLV, students will wear as much red as they can at the RED Alert competition where prizes will be awarded. African Students Association at Pace (A.S.A.P.) will host an activities |
table with bake sales, awareness information, and more. Alpha Lambda Sigma will do crafts for a cause to benefit pediatric AIDS, and students will be able to get tested at the HIV Summit. There will also be a Red Vigil in the evening. In NYC, Keep a Child Alive will host their first World AIDS Awareness Bash to raise awareness. Check here for up-to-date events on December 1.

It's Not Unusual for Pace to Outdo Everyone!

Pace has appointed former IASB Vice Chairman Tom Jones (no, not the singer) as Director of Lubin's Center for the Study of International Accounting Standards and Distinguished Professor in the Practice of International Accounting. Jones will teach at the graduate level |
and help develop relevant course work and research on the internationalization of accounting standards.

World's Most Famous Tree Lights Up

Before you even have time to digest the turkey, mashed potatoes, marshmallowed yams, etc., the world's most famous tree at Rockefeller Center lights up for the holiday season and you should be there. On December 2, a two-hour program with star-studded |
performances beginning at 7:00 p.m. will include Michael Buble, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Barry Manilow, Shakira, The Roots, cast members from NBC shows including 30 Rock, Chuck, and Mercy, the Rockettes, and more. Be there.
