Pace Remembers 911

The events of 9/11 have had a profound effect on a generation of people across the globe. Pace University, with a downtown campus located just five blocks away from the World Trade Center and a World Trade Institute and Conference Center on the 55th Floor of the North Tower, felt the impact first-hand. Our University lost 47 members—both students and alumni—and was closed for several weeks as the community struggled to recover both physically and emotionally.

But on that tragic day, members of the community served as a source of strength to those around them. The Pace downtown campus was temporarily transformed into a lifesaving shelter for students and workers fleeing the attack and the storm of debris. Our admissions office became a triage center for rescue workers. And our cafeteria served as a safe haven for volunteers, firemen, police officers, and National Guardsmen.
