Welcome to The Tutoring Center
A Division of The Center For Academic Excellence
“I was going about the course all wrong. I learned to make changes in the ways I studied, and that really helped me.”
“I’ve learned a lot about what works for me and what doesn’t. I feel more confident!”
“Tutoring helped me understand the material better.”
“The people in the Tutoring Center are friendly. They wanted to help me.”
Whether you are a new freshman at Pace or a junior taking an upper-division course in your major, the Tutoring Center is here to help. The Tutoring Center is a place where students can ask questions, work toward understanding at their own pace, and practice what they’ve learned in class. The Tutoring Center provides free drop-in tutoring for a wide range of courses in business, the humanities, and the natural and social sciences. We also help students learn test-preparation strategies, improve their test-taking skills, and learn new ways to study more effectively. Students seeking tutorial support for writing should contact the University Writing Center.
Tutoring Center tutors are trained to help students answer the questions and solve the problems they bring to their tutoring sessions and become better able to manage difficulty they may encounter with future assignments, homework, or test preparation. They work with students to help them understand concepts and strengthen their problem-solving skills.
Our tutors are Pace University undergraduate and graduate students who arrange their tutoring schedules around their class schedules. We make every effort to develop a tutoring schedule that provides as many available hours as possible for as many courses as possible. Because we are a walk-in service, students may, from time to time, have to wait for an available tutor. We encourage students to plan ahead and to check the schedule to avoid situations in which there is no tutor available. Individual subject schedules are posted in the Tutoring Center. Tutor availability can change, so students should call ahead. The administrative and support staff will be here during regular hours to answer questions.
