Student Managed Investment Portfolio

The main purpose of this course is the management of a portfolio worth about $250,000 sponsored by the University. Students will research individual companies and recommend purchases and sales. The class then votes to approve or reject the recommendation.

  • Apply real world knowledge towards investment decisions.

  • Direct contact with leading financial analysts and hedge fund managers

Students who took the course in Spring 2005 enjoyed the "real world exposure to equity research and fund management," and "hands-on experience." They also enjoyed beating the S&P, Dow, and NASDAQ indices. We gained 11.5% in 2007, compared to 3.5% for the S&P 500 Index.
