Women's Justice Center

  Video Tour

In 1991, the Pace Women's Justice Center was founded as the first academic legal center in the country devoted to training attorneys and others in the community on domestic violence issues by our founder Michael G. Dowd, Esq. For nearly 20 years, the Center has grown significantly from serving primarily as a legal resource and training center to becoming a highly respected, multi-faceted legal services center, serving over 2,500 victims and survivors of domestic violence each year. Because of the Center's affiliation with Pace Law School, the Center has been able to integrate law students as an integral component of the Center's innovative and highly successful Family Court Legal Program Externship and to provide them with practical experience and skills. In addition, the use of law students has improved the delivery of quality legal services to the surrounding community in a very cost-effective manner. Each year the Center trains hundreds of students, judges, prosecutors, police, and attorneys on domestic violence issues including stalking, elder abuse, and sexual assault.
