A Common Reading:
Mountains Beyond Mountains |
|
Be a part of a new Pace tradition!
For the first time, this summer, we are offering incoming students a common book to read during the summer so that when we convene in the fall, we can discuss its meaning to us as a community of scholars.
This year your faculty has chosen Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder, a non-fiction work that tells the story of the efforts of Dr. Paul Farmer to eradicate disease among the poor around the world, including in Haiti, Peru and Russia.
We will discuss the book as a Pace community during small seminar sessions on Academy Day, September 2, on both the New York City and Pleasantville campuses. We look forward to seeing you at Academy Day prepared to discuss the book and what it means to you. Please answer the discussion questions provided to guide your reading, and bring them to our meeting.
In addition to our discussions on Academy Day, the book and its themes will be relevant to many of your experiences while you are a student at Pace University. Please check back soon for other program information related to our common reading.
