Annotated Electronic Library on the CISG (CISG Database)

The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) is the uniform international sales law of countries that account for three-quarters of all world trade. As a service to the world trade community, the Pace University School of Law offers on the Web a comprehensive and current Annotated Electronic Library on the CISG. The Electronic Library includes the following information on the CISG and International Contract Law:

• Identification of States that have adopted the CISG;
• Texts of the CISG in a variety of languages;
• Volumes of material on the CISG’s legislative history;
• A bibliography on International Contract Law, containing over 8,000 entries;
• Over 1,000 full-texts of monographs, commentaries and books on International Contract Law;
• Over 2,000 CISG case law presentations (including over 1,500 translations);
• Annotated CISG text pages;
• Guides for managers and counsel;
• Links to the Autonomous Network of CISG Databases;
• Links to related international commercial law sites.

The Pace Institute of International Commercial Law also contributes to teaching and scholarship in international contract law through its sponsorship and initiative in the creation of the following programs:

• Clive M. Schmitthoff International Essay Competition (with the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary College, University of London).  An annual event, Pace's Clive M. Schmitthoff International Essay Competition on uniform international commercial law has over the years attracted responses from scholars from thirty-three countries. Certificates of Merit are awarded to talented students and faculty mentors. Pace has historically stressed the importance of legal writing.  The essay event is designed to foster superior legal writing at every institute of higher learning;
• CISG Advisory Council (co-sponsored with the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary College).  The Council is in place to support the understanding of the CISG and the promotion and assistance in the uniform interpretation of the CISG;
• CISG Case Digest Program (with UNCITRAL and the Moot Alumni Association);
• CISG Case Translation Program (with the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary College);
• Initiative to create the Global Principles of International Consumer Contracts;
• Texts on International Sales Law published under the auspices of the Institute;
• Annual International Commercial Law Lecture (with the Pace International Law Society).
