New York City Cultural Experience

New York City offers you a cultural experience together with English classes taught by very experienced teachers in a supportive and fun environment.


Program Description

12 hours per week of language instruction focusing on communication skills including listening and speaking, pronunciation, vocabulary enrichment, and grammar review.

Faculty-guided “See the City” three-hour per week walking tours in NYC’s most
fascinating, and historical neighborhoods.

We offer an optional Entertainment Package of escorted group events to:
• A Baseball Game
• A Boat Trip around Manhattan with lunch
• A Broadway Show
• A Concert in Central Park.

Housing

Students have a choice of housing options at Pace University Residence Hall located at 106 Fulton Street, 2 blocks away from the main campus at One Pace Plaza in downtown Manhattan.

The Program

July in the Big Apple is a four-week summer program providing English Language instruction at the English Language Institute at Pace University, together with a chance to live in Manhattan for the month of July with free time to enjoy your vacation in New York City.

Placement

Students are placed into beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Courses will run Tuesday through Thursday, July 7 - 30, 2009, with housing available June 29 - July 31, 2009.

The ELI

The English Language Institute (ELI) is part of Pace University. We have offered courses in English as a Second language (ESL) since 1992.

We enroll international students, New York City residents, visitors on tourist visas, and diplomats.

We are in downtown Manhattan, convenient to public transportation, the Financial District, shopping, restaurants, museums and theaters.

Our professional faculty all have Masters Degrees and use the newest language technology, the latest text books, and create original materials to give you a high-quality language learning environment and experience. Also, students use a multi-media language laboratory with the latest language software. Social events include cultural outings, holiday parties, and day trips to places of general interest.
