EDWIN G. MICHAELIAN MUNICIPAL LAW RESOURCE CENTER

The Edwin G. Michaelian Municipal Law Resource Center of Pace University (MLRC) assists local governments in resolving their basic legal and organizational problems by providing legal research and consulting services and conducting in-depth management studies. Expert assistance in these endeavors is provided by the Michaelian Institute for Public Policy and Management and the faculty of the Department of Political Science/Program of Public Administration of the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace University.

Research

The MLRC responds to several hundred research requests annually covering all aspects of municipal law. Model laws are also provided to assist communities in drafting their own local legislation. These research materials and memoranda are shared with other municipalities confronting similar problems. Law students research and prepare informational memoranda on municipal law issues.

Publications

The Municipal Lawyer, the MLRC's quarterly digest, which is co-sponsored by the New York State Bar Association, highlights and explains recent judicial and legislative enactments affecting local government.

Municipal Law Library

The MLRC possesses one of the most comprehensive municipal law libraries in New York State. The library's resources are augmented by the WESTLAW computer-assisted legal research service and the entire collection of the Pace University Law Library, a U.S. Government Documents Depository.
