The Pace National Environmental Moot Court Competition
Since 1989, student advocates from across the United States and Canada have participated in the National Environmental Law Moot Court Competition. Widely recognized as the preeminent environmental moot in the country, it draws nearly 250 students from 70 different law schools. The event tests skills in appellate brief writing and oral advocacy involving issues drawn from real cases, providing experience in environmental litigation first hand. The competition is distinctive in that three adverse teams argue the issues, reflecting the fact that environmental litigation frequently involves multiple parties—the government, a public interest group, and a member of the regulated industry.

Pace’s School of Law environmental law program was awarded the 2005 American Bar Association Award for Distinguished Achievement in Environmental Law and Policy.

“While attending Pace Law School, I learned first-hand why it is a top-ranking environmental law program. Classes are taught by high-caliber faculty who are skilled practitioners from the public interest, private, and government sectors. The Pace Environmental Litigation Clinic provides students an opportunity to apply their coursework to real world issues by taking on actual cases and clients. Working at the clinic validated my decision to practice environmental law.”
