Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

TAP is a grant given to students attending a college in New York State. Only New York State residents are eligible. Upon completing the online FAFSA form, you will be prompted to file the Express TAP Application. Complete both the FAFSA and the TAP form for consideration. If you do not file the FAFSA online, request an Express TAP Application (ETA) from NYS HESC (New York State Higher Education Services Corporation).

Aid for Part-time Study (APTS)

The Aid for Part-Time Study Program is a grant program financed by New York State. This program provides up to $2,000.00 per year (max. $1,000.00 per semester) to help part-time undergraduate students meet their educational expenses. To apply, you will need to complete both the New York State and Pace University sections of the APTS application, which can be accessed on our downloadable forms page.

To be eligible for an APTS award, a student must:
  • be working toward an undergraduate degree or enrolled in a registered certificate program as a part-time student enrolled for 3 but fewer than 12 semester hours per semester),
  • maintain a good academic standing including having achieved at least a cumulative “C” average after having received the equivalent of two full years of payment of state-sponsored  student financial aid,
  • be a resident of New York State,
  • be either a US Citizen, permanent resident alien, or refugee,
  • meet the income limits (read guidelines carefully on the form),
  • not have used up TAP (Tuition Assistance Program) eligibility,
  • have a tuition charge of at least $100.00 per year,
  • not be in default of a Federal Family Education Loan,


New York State also offers a variety of other scholarships and grants. Some recognize academic excellence and some are designed to assist special groups of students. For example, there are special awards for Veterans and the dependents of victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks. Eligibility and amounts vary by award.
