Timetable of Procedures - Promotion & Tenure
The One-Year Timeline for Preparation of Dossier for CDFPT at Pace University
On or before September 6, 2013: All candidates for promotion and/or tenure should send a brief letter of intent and their FACT sheet to the Dean of their College/School with a copy to the Office of the Provost.
External evaluation letters strongly encouraged (3 confirmed to be sent at minimum) requested by Dean, Dept. Chair or designee. Received by October 2013
On or before October 11, 2013: Departmental Tenure and Promotion (TAP) Committee deliberates and votes
On or before November 1, 2013: School Tenure and Promotion (TAP) Committee deliberates and votes, Dean gives recommendation.
On or before November 15, 2013: TAP (Departmental, College/School, Senior Colleague, and/or Individual) Committee recommendations for promotion and/or tenure, written report and Fact Sheets are due in Office of the Provost for transmittal to CDFPT. The written report should provide reasoning on the tripartite indicators and vote counts. A minority report might also be submitted. Chair gives recommendation.
On or before November 22, 2013:Organizational meeting of CDFPT; Chairperson, Secretary, and two campus based Liaisons to CDFPT-Appeals elected.
On or before December 6, 2013:Self-nominations due in Office of the Provost for transmittal to CDFPT
On or before December 13, 2013, 5:00 PM: eDossiers completed. An Addendum can be submitted for materials relevant to your tenure and/or promotion (e.g. accepted publications, presentations, and awards) that occurred after the December 13, 2013 deadline.
(Adjunct nominees: FACT Sheet and Evaluations only) must be submitted to the Dean, copied to the Office of the Provost.
January 6-22, 2014: Council of Deans and Faculty on Promotion and Tenure (CDFPT) deliberates and votes. Council chair summarizes votes and recommendations.
The CDFPT communicates its recommendations to the Location Faculty Councils and the Provost.
*Committee Report due to the Office of the Provost within one week of Committee Meeting, no later than January 31, 2014.
At the February 2014 Location Council Meetings: Location Councils vote upon recommendations; recommendations forwarded to the Provost.
February 2014: The Provost reviews the recommendations of the CDFPT and Location Faculty Councils and forwards them to the President together with his/her own separate recommendations. President/Provost review dossiers, taking into account the votes and recommendations at all previous levels of consideration.
On or before March 24, 2014: Deadline for appeal to the President through the Office of the Provost. For a description of the appeals process, see Appendix 3.
March 25 – April 8 2014: Appeals Committee begins review of appeals
On or before May 8, 2014: Appeals Committee recommendations submitted to President
On or before May 15, 2014: President issues decisions on appeals and makes a final recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
The Board of Trustees considers and votes on the President’s recommendations, usually at the next board meeting. Successful candidates are officially notified before the following academic year convenes.
*There is no exception granted to an individual to extend deadlines.
