University Survey Policy

In August 2011, the president and provost of Pace University adopted the following policy concerning the administration and distribution of surveys to the Pace community:

The following policy will apply whenever a department, college or school conducts a survey except for questionnaires and similar limited surveys that are used to test the reaction to a course or a training session or for a similar limited purpose.

1.      Unless there is a compelling reason to move more quickly, at least two weeks prior notice must be given to OPAIR and any other group identified in the table below. The notice should briefly describe the purpose of the survey, the audience to be surveyed, the timing and the name of the DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) responsible for the questions, the subsequent survey analysis and the action plan. There is no requirement of prior approval of the survey by OPAIR, but OPAIR may raise questions and comment on the survey.

2.      As soon as a copy of the survey is available, it should be forwarded to OPAIR in digital form so we have a full file of all surveys.

3.      Within three weeks of receiving the results of the survey, a written analysis of the key findings of the survey shall be prepared. A copy of the analysis shall be sent to OPAIR.

4.      Within six weeks of receiving the results of the survey, an action plan informed by the survey analysis shall be prepared, including the DRI, a timetable for implementation and a method of testing the results of the action plan.  In those cases where more than one department, college or school is involved in the action plan, they shall agree on a DRI for the action plan, which shall be agreed upon and filed within eight weeks of receiving the results of the survey. A copy of the action plan shall be sent to OPAIR.
