Educational Technology Specialist Advanced Certificate

The Advanced Certificate in Educational Technology Specialist requires a minimum of 24 graduate credits.  Candidates' background in education and in technology will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, using transcript review and challenge examinations.  Each candidate will meet with the faculty (either face-to-face or virtually) to design his/her own professional development plan.  Each plan must be designed to meet the competencies stipulated by the State of New York and the International Society of Technology Education (ISTE) .

The Advanced Certificate program is an evening program that allows the candidate to work during the day while attending class at night or participating in courses online.  The program is available on the Westchester campus in Pleasantville, and on our NYC campus downtown.  Classes are scheduled online or in the evening, with each in-class meeting taking place one evening per week for 3 hours.  On the Pleasantville campus, Advanced Certificate courses are scheduled during the fall and spring semesters either online or from 4:30-7:20 p.m. or from 7:30-10:20 p.m. (It should be noted, however, that most courses are offered at the earlier hour.)  On the NYC campus, Advanced Certificate courses are scheduled online or during the fall and spring semesters from 5:30-8:15pm.  During the summer sessions on both campuses, courses meet twice a week in the late afternoon or early evening.
 
Advanced Certificate candidates may choose to pursue the program on a full-time or part-time basis.  9 credits is considered full-time study at the graduate level, and candidates may not register for more than three courses in the fall and spring semesters.  In addition, candidates are limited to registering for no more than one course in each of the two summer sessions, and no more than one course while student teaching.
