Brief Personal Bio/Message
One of the great things about working with new and experienced teachers (our students in the Pace School of Education) is the opportunity it provides to examine the parallel process of being simultaneously a student and a teacher. As Pace students reflect on their own experience with various learning activities, they develop a greater identification with and empathy for their students. They also become more aware of how their experiences and biases impact their own approach to learning, helping to generate a sense of curiosity and interest in the remarkably diverse ways that people learn. Some people joke that teachers make the toughest students. I disagree. I would say that teachers are just like students of any age; when they see the relevance of learning activities to their lives and aspirations, they get excited and want to be right in the thick of it.
