We offer undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs on our Westchester and New York City campuses. Our programs are nationally recognized by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
The School of Education invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty member to teach in our outstanding undergraduate and graduate education programs in New York City and Pleasantville (Westchester County) campuses. The position includes teaching graduate and/or undergraduate courses leading to certification in teaching students with disabilities or related programs. The position will be assigned primarily to the New York Campus; however, faculty members are expected to engage in curriculum development and program accreditation, participate in school and university committees, and teach on the campus in which their expertise is needed. Faculty assignments for this position may also include special education program coordination. In addition, faculty members are expected to be active scholars with a strong research agenda and a record of scholarly activities that contribute to the understanding of teaching and learning.
Preference will be given to candidates with programmatic and/or leadership experience in early childhood, early childhood special education or early intervention. Consideration will also be given to dynamic and innovative individuals who have credentials and experience in inclusive education and/or education and training of students with severe disabilities. Candidates with a track record of obtaining external funding for research purposes are encouraged to apply. Candidates with experience in using instructional technologies, including on-line instruction are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants must hold a relevant doctorate (ABD candidates who will complete degree requirements by August 2014 will also be considered); a minimum of three years of teaching experience with students with special needs in an urban setting; record of, and evidence of potential for continued scholarship and professional/community service commensurate with the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor.
