International Programs

Building on our faculty’s dedication to international environmental law, Pace Law is host to numerous initiatives, institutes, and programs that have an international focus. Additionally, Pace Law partners with institutes and programs abroad to give students the best access to international environmental law and policy.  Some of the highlights of our international programs include:

  • Partnering with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and its Academy of Environmental Law. Students have advised the IUCN, written resolutions for the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Barcelona, and have facilitated the development of IUCN peace and environment initiatives globally.

  • The popular United Nations Environmental Diplomacy Practicum, where students have the opportunity to work with permanent missions to the United Nations on environmental law and policy.  Students regularly advise their missions on matters ranging from climate change to human rights. The course focuses on sending students to “Small Island” and developing nations, where the assistance of Pace Law students can go a long way towards helping foster an equitable global environment.

  • The Brazil-American Institute for Law and Environment– a research, teaching and policy center dedicated to building and fostering the relationship between the United States and Brazil in their shared goal of environmental protection.  The Institute is jointly housed and supported by Pace Law School School in New York and the Getulio Vargas Foundation School of Law in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Students from Pace Law travel to Brazil each spring to attend conferences, meet with environmental practitioners, and study comparative environmental law. Click here for more information on BAILE.

  • A China Exchange program which brings Chinese students to Pace Law and allows Pace students with Chinese language skills to attend Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

  • The London Law Program – an opportunity to spend time working and studying London. Conducted since 1985, in association with University College London (UCL) Faculty of Laws, University of London, the Pace London Law Program provides academic and internship experiences each spring semester for 30 to 40 students from Pace Law School and other law schools.

  • International Academics - LLM programs in comparative environmental law, climate change law, and a host of JD courses that utilize the international experiences of our faculty to provide meaningful educational opportunities for our students.
