Law Reviews
Participating in one of Pace Law School’s highly regarded law reviews is an excellent way to develop essential legal writing skills. Law reviews at Pace publish scholarly articles and commentary devoted to current legal trends and ongoing developments in law, and are edited and operated entirely by Pace students.
Pace students currently publish three different law reviews, each described below. Membership is based on academic performance and demonstrated writing ability. Candidates are chosen after their first year as day division students or their second year as evening students.
Pace Law Review – Composed of 40 members and devoted to the study and publication of scholarly materials of professional legal interest, this journal features articles by leading legal scholars, professors, practitioners, and judges, as well as student notes and comments on specific issues in law, recent decisions, and current legislation. Under the direction of student editors, associates spend three hours a week editing articles for the review’s semi-annual publication, checking grammar and for accuracy of footnotes and citations. Each of the associates is required to write a case note or case comment of publishable quality to appear in the review.
Pace Environmental Law Review – A forum for the discussion of environmental law and concerns, the Pace Environmental Law Review was developed from and enhances environmental programs offered by Pace. Articles are solicited from professionals in the field and are devoted to commentary and analysis of environmental law issues. The review also publishes the annual Lloyd Garrison Lecture in Environmental Law, the winning briefs of the Pace Environmental Law Moot Court competition, and the proceedings of an annual colloquium on environmental legal issues.
Pace International Law Review – Devoted to the publication of scholarly materials in the rapidly growing field of international law, each issue, which enjoys worldwide circulation, contains professional articles by some of the foremost authors and scholars in the field. The review is published semi-annually, in fall and spring, with one issue focusing on public international law and one on international commercial law.
