Leadership and Service in Technology Event
For the past 10 years, the school has presented a Leadership and Service in Technology Award annually to an individual who best exemplifies leadership in the field of technology, innovation in the development and application of technology to serve people, and commitment to community service and education. Support for the event comes predominantly from the corporate community in New York City and Westchester and is generated through the aggressive efforts of CSIS Advisory Board members. The award is traditionally presented at a reception held at a well-known corporate venue and the proceeds of the event support the CSIS Endowed Scholarship Fund as well as other new initiatives. CSIS Advisory Board member Judith Spitz of Verizon Communications, Inc., served as event chair.
The 2005 award went to Shaygan Kheradpir , CIO of Verizon Communications, Inc. who spoke on "The New and Innovative Role of the CIO." The event, which was held at American Express headquarters in lower Manhattan , generated $143k.
