Pace Computer Learning Center
The Computer Learning Center had another successful year in 2005, increasing revenue by more than 20%, bringing the combined increase of the past two years to over 60%.
Offering professional training and management development programs to public, corporate, government and not-for-profit clients, the Center experienced growth in all areas of its course offerings ?project management, PC training, technical education and Web technologies.
- Project Management education continues to represent the largest amount of revenue; both corporate and public classes have increased in frequency and size. Pace has maintained its affiliation with Boston University in the project management arena, and offered a full range of courses through that affiliation. In addition, Pace applied for independent status as a Registered Education Provider of the Project Management Institute (PMI®), which will enable it to offer a wider selection of courses and consulting services.
Pace alumni from both the Seidenberg and Lubin schools have participated in project management events, and have enrolled in both day and evening classes.
The evening certificate program in Applied Project Management continued to be a popular choice for corporate professionals needing in-depth, hands-on exposure to project management best practices. - Personal Computer education and Web technologies workshops were offered to corporate and public clients at Pace White Plains and Midtown campuses. Microsoft Office training continues to attract both new and returning clients, while Flash, Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Quark classes are growing in popularity. PCLC instructors are currently upgrading their skills and earning new certifications that will enable them to teach an expanded range of courses. Several long term corporate clients have held training initiatives during the past year.
- Technical training continues to increase, with networking and A+ classes offered. Preparations are in place for a new program teaching Red Hat Linux, which will prepare participants to become certified as Red Hat technicians and engineers.
- PCLC continued its leadership role in the activities of the Westchester Not-for-Profit Technology Council and provided PC training to Westchester not-for-profit organizations. The training was supported by a grant from the Verizon Foundation.
