LEADERSHIP AND SERVICE IN TECHNOLOGY AWARD RECEPTION

For the past 11 years, the school has presented a Leadership and Service in Technology Award annually to an individual who best exemplifies leadership in the field of technology, innovation in the development and application of technology to serve people, and commitment to community service and education. Support for the event comes predominantly from the corporate community in New York City and Westchester and is generated through the aggressive efforts of Seidenberg School Advisory Board members.

The award is traditionally presented at a reception held at a well-known corporate venue and the proceeds of the event provide scholarship support to students in need as well as funding for new school-based initiatives. This year's reception was held on June 6 at the "Digital Sandbox," the birthplace of Silicon Alley in lower Manhattan. Kurt Woetzel, executive vice president and CIO of the Bank of New York and advisory board member, served as event chair.

The 2006 award went to Austin Adams, corporate CIO of JPMorganChase and a highly respected leader and innovator in the IT community. He is particularly known for his skill in handling bank mergers. Ivan Seidenberg served as guest speaker. He spoke on issues relating to "Innovation, Leadership and the Role of Education," the theme of this year's event. The event generated $215,000.
