Pace Computer Learning Center

The Pace Computer Learning Center (PCLC) continued to bring increased revenues to the University in 2006, with a strong project management program and a new technical program contributing to its growth.

The Computer Learning Center offers professional PC and technical training, as well as project management education and consulting, to a combination of public, corporate, government and not-for-profit clients.

  • During 2006, the Computer Learning Center became a Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) of the Project Management Institute (PMI®). Prior to this, Pace, through an affiliation with Boston University, was able to offer the BU project management curriculum. Now, as an R.E.P., Pace can develop and offer its own programs and curricula, and will continue to offer BU classes as well.
  • Pace project management programs are featured on the PMI® Web site, and plans are underway for a Pace University Certificate in Project Management, to be introduced in 2007. Corporate clients have made this a national program, with Pace instructors in training locations from New York to California.
  • During 2006, PCLC continued to offer public and corporate PC classes in office applications and Web technologies in White Plains and Midtown. While Microsoft Office is still popular, demand is growing for Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Acrobat. Because of this, PCLC is working with Adobe to become an Adobe Authorized Training Center. This will list our courses on the Adobe Web site and bring new clients into Pace.
  • Pace University has become the only Red Hat Linux Academy training partner in the greater NYC/Westchester area. PCLC offers Red Hat Linux training for both RHCT (Red Hat Certified Technician) and RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certification. The response to marketing efforts for this new program has been positive.
  • PCLC offered two sessions (spring and fall) of PC training classes for not-for-profit organizations in Westchester/Putnam counties in 2006. These classes continue to be supported jointly by a grant from the Verizon Foundation, and, by Pace University. They enable people in these organizations to receive the same quality training in business applications as our corporate clients at a third of the cost.
