There is no doubt that Software Engineering is a maturing discipline. As its importance in our lives continues to grow, so does the demand for individuals who can learn, adapt and adopt the technologies of tomorrow. The MS in Software Development and Engineering program helps students master the skills, principles and mechanisms necessary to compete in this state-of-the-art field

What Will I Study?

Program Length: 2 years

A response to the tremendous growth of the software development industry, this program promotes a rigorous and in-depth study of the problems involved in the management, design, development, delivery and maintenance of software systems. In addition to the MS in Software Development and Engineering program, Pace University offers two advanced certificates—one in general Software Engineering and one focused on the development of secure software.

The core curriculum is centered on three intellectual themes: system and software design/architecture and development, software management and evolution, and management of human resources in a software development environment.

Upon completion of the core requirements, students can select from the following concentrations:

MS/ Software Development and Engineering

Students may also complete their course of study by taking as few as 33 credits and completing an IEEE-sponsored Certification examination. The Seidenberg School of Computer Science and Information Systems is the only university in the NYC metro area that is a Registered Education Provider for IEEE

Admission Requirements

This program requires prospective students to have a solid foundation in traditional computer science. Either a BS in computer science or an equivalent experience base can ensure these requirements. Students should also be competent programmers. Those who lack current programming knowledge (i.e., Java, C++) will be required to take SE 602 Fundamentals in Java before they can begin this program.
