Applicants to the PhD in Computer Science must submit:
  • Post-secondary transcripts focusing in computer science or a closely related field
  • The GRE general score
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • TOEFL or TELTS scores (international applicants only)
  • A research presentation

Qualifying Exam Requirement

To satisfy the Qualifying Exam requirement, each student must earn an A grade on three exams. If a student takes a Qualifying Exam and earns a lower grade, he or she may retake the exam once. The student may take the exam with or without taking the course. All Qualifying Exams must be passed by the end of the second year.
One of the Qualifying Exams must be in the area in which the student will write the dissertation.

  • Formal Verification
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Graphics
  • Pattern Recognition

Residency Requirement:

This is a full-time residence program. All students must be enrolled full time at Pace University for the entire duration of the program to ensure their full-time research. The students can live on university campuses or within two hour driving distance from the campuses. All the three Pace University campuses have or are developing student dormitories, and have housing options close to the campuses.
