A high ranking priority is to ensure that the program is effective with a high completion rate. Instead of admitting students based primarily on their grades and performance on standardized tests, as most Ph.D. programs do, our program will admit students who have already demonstrated sufficient research sophistication and potential, demonstrated by the completion of quality master’s research projects or theses, and effective research presentations. The program will remain small and selective. We encourage all applicants to hold a master’s degree in computer science or a closely related field.
Approximately 5 to 12 applicants with high academic qualifications and proven research ability will be admitted as full-time students in each of the initial 5 years of the program, beginning in Fall 2013.
