Associate in Science Degree in Applied Information Technology

The Technology Systems Department in the School of Computer Science and Information Systems offers a wide variety of degree programs, one of which is the Associate in Science in Applied Information Technology (formerly Office Technology). This degree program combines a traditional liberal arts core foundation with Technology Systems courses. To earn the degree, students must complete 64 credits with a "C" or "2.0" grade point average.

In the current structure of the CLOUT Program, the degree program is available to graduates of the Personal Computer Applications for the Office Professional Certificate. Applicants must have completed the certificate program with a minimum of a 2.5 grade point average. The applicant’s record in the certificate program will be reviewed; attendance and progress reports will be reviewed. Additionally, applicants must be working.

Persons who enroll in the associate degree program begin their studies with 18 credits from the certificate. A total of 64 credits is needed to earn the degree. Courses are offered evenings and Saturdays to accommodate the schedules of working individuals. Over 16 months (4 semesters), students earn 40 credits toward the degree. During the last semester of study, the internship experience from the certificate program is reviewed for the purpose of converting the hours worked to credits. Students who are eligible for graduation will receive 6 credits for the internship experience.
