Pace Welcome Events 2014      

This year we are excited to have the class of 2018 come through Pace's Doors! Whether you are from New York, or from a small town in the Mid West, we are glad you are here and we want to welcome you to New York City and Pace University.

Here are the events held in your honor. From Tony Award winning Broadway Shows to Walking Tours in Central Park; Yankees Games to Shopping trips to Woodbury Commons, there is an event for everyone in mind. Interested in the events below? Central Park Walking Tour

Event Description:

It is easy to forget that you are in a crowded city while walking through this spectacular park! The original plan for the City of New York, laid out by the City Commissioners in 1811 did not include the park.  But as the city grew rapidly in size, we needed a place for New Yorkers to get a breath of fresh air!  Central Park, with its 843 acres of meadows, lawns, ponds, lakes and more, was the solution.  Today it is one of the best-known parks in the world and is enjoyed by millions-both locals and tourists alike.

Discovery MARVEL Avengers Exhibit Times Square

Event Description:

Marvel’s AVENGERS S.T.A.T.I.O.N. The Exhibition (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network) is a completely immersive experience that brings visitors into the world of The AVENGERS. Visitors of all ages are granted S.H.I.E.L.D. access to the official S.T.A.T.I.O.N. headquarters and taken deep into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here visitors will have open access to a vast array of intelligence files, classified studies and experiments that explores the history and scientific origins of Marvel’s The Avengers. Visitors will also be given unprecedented access to some of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s most highly guarded artifacts such as Captain America’s Birth Pod, the Tesseract Portal Device, Loki’s Scepter, a hermetically sealed Chitauri and more, recovered after the Battle of New York.

Constitution Day

Aspiring musicians, singers, dancers, comedians, rappers and spoken word artists try their best to please the audiences that can make them an Apollo legend. Then get ready to cheer or jeer as you decide who stays and who gets booted off stage. At Amateur Night, you tell the performers to be good or be gone! Amateur Night at the Apollo is hosted by the comedian Capone. Each show begins with a festive pre-party featuring video and music by DJ Jess. And keep a lookout for master impressionist C.P. Lacey, the resident Executioner who sweeps bad talent off the stage.

9/11 Memorial and Museum Visit

Event Description:

The National September 11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance and honor to the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center site, near Shanksville, Pa., and at the Pentagon, as well as the six people killed in the World Trade Center bombing in February 1993. Come see the Memorial’s twin reflecting pools, each nearly an acre in size and feature the largest manmade waterfalls in the North America. The pools sit within the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood.

Statue of Liberty

Museum of Moving Images

Event Description:

What’s Up, Doc? The Animation Art of Chuck Jones explores Jones’s creative genius, as well as the influences he drew on from the fine arts and popular culture, and the legacy of his work on the field of animation. The exhibition features 23 of Chuck Jones’s animated films, interactive experiences, and more than 125 original sketches and drawings, storyboards, production backgrounds, animation cels, and photographs, demonstrating how Jones and his collaborators worked together to create some of the greatest cartoons ever made.

San Gennaro Festival

Stonewall Coalition HIV Testing

Event Description:

This event aims to bring free HIV and STDs testing services to the Pace community. It also seeks to educate students, faculties, and staffs on safer sex practices and the location of local organizations that offers free testing within New York City. Free condoms and other safer sex items will be passed out at the event.

The NY Blood Center will be on campus asking for donors from 12pm to 6pm. You can donate as many times as you would like and can help save lives.

NSSHLA Operation Smile Cleft Awareness

We will be having an event to bring awareness and raise money for an organization called Operation Smile that deals with giving children smiles by closing their clefts.

Kappa Delta You Make me Smile

Event Description:

As a project of the Confidence Coalition, the “You Make Me SMILE” Campaign is designed to brighten a woman or girl’s day and boost her confidence. We will be inflating blue balloons, and will write confidence-boosting messages on them, then hand the balloons out to women and girls of all ages on the Pace University campus.

If...Then: The Musical

If/Then is a contemporary new musical that follows two distinct storylines in the life of Elizabeth, a city planner who moves back to New York to restart her life in this city of infinite possibilities. Life of PI Screening

The storyline revolves around an Indian man named Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, living in Canada and telling a novelist about his life story and how at 16 he survives a shipwreck in which his family dies, and is stranded in the Pacific Ocean on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker.

Museum of Sex

A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder

Event Description:

Based on Roy Horniman’s novel Israel Rank, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder finds Monty Navarro, a British commoner, discovering that he’s ninth in line to inherit the Earldom of Highhurst and electing to murder the members of the odious D’Ysquith family standing in his way. Phantom of the Opera
