Position Statement

I was always told I am a leader. I know how to help others and in times of need I keep my head straight and continue with the task at hand. I always finish whatever I start, whether it may be an essay or rewriting a constitution for an organization on campus. I put my full one-hundred percent into what I do and do not accept mediocre results. I always use the resources at my disposal to reach my goal; whenever I need help Im not afraid to ask for it. The biggest achievement of my life had me use all of these traits to reach it. I am an Eagle  Scout and to get there was no easy task. It takes hard work and dedication, pulling all of your resources, and having a game plan. Achieving this rank gave me the knowledge to  effectively lead people to a common purpose or goal. I have shown this around campus through the many executive boards I have been on. I have been the secretary for both the Interfraternity Council and Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. I am also the senator for the Future Educators Association and a writer for the Pace Chronicle. Last semester I was also the  President of Martin Hall Council. I know how to lead and time manage which is what I need for my future occupation as an Educator. I might only be a sophomore but my time spent  here at Pace has prepared me for a lifetime and I know the institution still has more it could teach me. My name is Charles Link and I am a sophomore education major and I am ready  to be your next Executive Vice President of judicial compliance of Student Association.

What interests you about being a candidate for the Student Association Executive Board?

I have been on three executive boards of different organizations on campus. I felt as though I have made a difference in these organizations and now is the time to take what I have  learned and help all of the student organizations through the Student Association Executive board.

What makes you the best candidate for the position?

I have worked on executive boards before and I know what the pressure is like. I know how to use the programs used by the SA executive board and who to improve on what previous e-boards have done.

What are the core values you associate with the term "student leadership"? Please elaborate.

When I see student leadership, I think of someone who is involved in many organizations on campus. I think of someone who knows faculty and staff members on campus. I see  someone who would know how to help a fellow student by directing them to the proper people to help them. A person who holds a student leadership position should be a leader and know what they are doing, especially around campus.

How/why does effective student leadership require ethics and integrity?

To be a student leader you will not always please all the students you meet. But your ethics and integrity will show you what is the right thing to do, whether students are happy or not. If the organizations aren't coming to SA meetings then giving a fine is ethical because you need to maintain the integrity of SA by requiring all organizations to come to the SA meetings.

How will your legacy at Pace University look?

If I were to leave Pace today I think my legacy would be that I left an imprint here. It might not have been huge, but I helped organizations on campus to become better and touched  the lives of students on this campus.
