Position Statement

Being on the Student Association Executive Board gives one is the ability to serve the Pace Municipal in an immensely high capacity and incalculably influential manner. I look forward  to working with all the organizations on campus and building a better sense of community where everyone feels inclined to get involved in some sort of method. A main  focus would no doubt be to work with the organizations to build better communication in several outlets including marketing, bookkeeping, and the transition process. Having  neared completion of over two-thirds my academic credit hours, I feel that I have been very involved in the Pace Community since when I first started here my freshmen year. Firstly  getting involved as the Vice-President of North Hall, where my team was awarded "Hall of the Year" and then continuing on to an organization executive board position as the  President and Senator of The Residence Hall Association where I have served for two consecutive years, wherein I was awarded the 2011 Pace Pride Award for Outstanding Organization President, as well as have attended several conferences and workshops in student leadership, and served on several committees including the 2010-2011 Student  Association Constitutional Review Committee, giving me a factual understanding of the policies, operations, and regulations which govern our Student Association. I want to join, not only the Student Association Executive Board of 2012-2013, but in a sense join all the Past Executive Boards because I plan to build off of all the work they have done, while still bringing my own personal goals as well.

What interests you about being a candidate for the Student Association Executive Board?

What interests me in being on the Student Association Executive Board is the ability to serve the Pace Municipal in a much higher capacity and more influential manner. I look forward to working with all the organizations on campus and building a better sense of community where everyone feels inclined to get involved in some sort of method. A main focus would  no doubt be to work with the organizations to build better communication in several outlets including marketing, bookkeeping, and the transition process.

What makes you the best candidate for the position?

Having neared completion of over two-thirds my academic credit hours, I feel that I have been very involved in the Pace community since my freshmen year, starting with my  Vice-Presidency of North Hall, where my team was awarded "Hall of the Year" and then continuing on to an organization executive board position as the President and Senator of The  Residence Hall Association where I have served for two consecutive years, wherein I was awarded the Pace Pride Award for Outstanding Organization President, as well as have  attended several conferences and workshops in student leadership. In addition to my student-leader involvement, I also am employed in Paces Athletics department as a staff assistant and commit myself to my academic major by attending conferences and travel courses surrounding the Communications department. I feel that my well rounded  association with the Pace Community qualifies me to serve on the SA Executive Board.

What are the core values you associate with the term "student leadership"?  Please elaborate.

The Core Values of Student Leadership to me starts with an approachable affable demeanor where students feel comfortable coming to you for any questions, comments, concerns, or any other kind of discussion. There is also an accountability factor which must be adhered to wherein if someone asks you to perform a task they can expect that it will be done in a timely manner and follow the guidelines originally presented. Above all Student Leaders should represent their school in a positive manner in all capacities.

How/why does effective student leadership require ethics and integrity?

Without ethics a student leader will have nothing for themselves to personally follow and in turn their confidants will have nothing to follow, and without integrity the others cannot  be expected to bestow their self-assurance in a student leader.

How will your legacy at Pace University look?

The legacy I personally leave at Pace University will join the history of many others who have filled my positions, but may hold a slightly higher sense of esteem since I have held  positions in specific areas for terms longer than just one academic year and in turn I feel that my successors will have a solid foundation set to build up from.
