Finish at Pace: Transfer Student Resources

Tau Sigma National Honor Society

What is Tau Sigma?

Tau Sigma is a national honor society dedicated to recognizing the academic achievement of transfer students. Currently, there are 100 chapters nationwide, and New York State has the most chapters with a total of eight.

Who is eligible to join?

All full-time Pace transfer students with at least one full year's academic credit satisfied at their prior institution who achieve a minimum of a 3.5 GPA during their first semester at Pace are eligible to join. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you will receive a letter of invitation from Tau Sigma.

How much does it cost to join?

All members must pay a one-time membership fee of $45.

Why should I join?

Membership in this organization is prestigious. Individuals who become members will be able to utilize all of the services and resources that the national organization has to offer, including scholarship opportunities.

Can my membership be revoked?

No. Even if your grade point average falls below the membership criteria, your membership status will not be revoked as you are automatically a lifetime member.

What can I expect as a member?

As a member, you will have a chance to develop leadership skills, participate in community service, and plan both social and educational programs for incoming and current transfer students. Tau Sigma chapter meetings are held bi-weekly and members are encouraged to attend.

Scholarship Opportunities

There are national Tau Sigma scholarships available to members. Tau Sigma National Honor Society annually awards over $25,000 in scholarships to their members. Scholarships are determined by a member’s involvement in and service to the chapter, involvement in and service to the University, service to the community, and continued academic achievement.
