Dr. Mark Allen Poisel's Biography

 

Dr. Mark Allen Poisel is the Associate Provost for Student Success at Pace University in New York. Prior to his current position, Dr. Poisel served in several positions at the University of Central Florida including Associate Vice President for Student Development and Enrollment, Associate Vice President for Academic Development and Retention, Assistant Vice President for First-Year Transitions, Director of Transfer Services, and adjunct faculty member for the leadership minor/certificate. From 1997-1999, he served as a specialist for student services at the Florida Division of Community Colleges working on policies and issues related to admissions, financial aid, and other student services. He currently serves on the boards of directors for the National Resource Center for the First Year Experience and Students in Transition and the Association for the Study of Transfer Students. Dr. Poisel presents at national and regional meetings regularly, including workshops or concurrent sessions at the ACPA/NASPA annual conferences, Students in Transitions conferences, CSRDE, and National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students. Dr. Poisel has been the plenary speaker at seven conferences and has four publications, including a monograph on transfer student success by the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition. He is a former a student services reviewer for SACS-COC accreditation reaffirmations.
