The entrepreneurs spend a day with students and faculty who have a special interest in starting or running a small business of their own. There are many opportunities for students to meet with entrepreneurs throughout the day in class meetings and informal gatherings over lunch or at an afternoon reception. Past participants of the program include: David Oreck, founder and chairman of the board, Oreck Corporation; Peter Kash ’89, cofounder and senior managing director, Paramount Capital Asset Management, Inc.; Steven Aldrich, founder, Inuit Insurance Services; Barbara Corcoran, chairman and founder, The Corcoran Group; Chuck Ramsey, cofounder of Ramsey/Beirne Associates, Inc.; and Randy Myer, founder of Best Friends Pet Care. Lubin Internship Courses Lubin students have an opportunity to earn academic credit for approved Internships. Students with strong academic records who have a minimum CQPA of 3.00 may apply to undertake a carefully planned work experience, under the supervision of a faculty advisor, that will demonstrate the practical application of their classroom learning. Internship credit courses are offered in accounting, finance, entrepre- neurship, management, international management, management science and marketing for students who have achieved Junior standing and have completed at least the first course in their major. Students are generally awarded 3 credits for an internship in their major, which may be used to satisfy a major concentration or major elective requirement. It may also be taken as a free elective. Students in their sophomore year who have completed BUS 150 are eligible to take BUS 294 Business Internship for one credit. Students are responsible for finding their own internships either through the Cooperative Education Program or other contacts. Students are required to obtain approval to undertake a credit internship from the Lubin academic department offering the course. Students may apply a maximum of 6 credits earned through internships to their degree. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS COMBINED B.B.A./M.B.A. PROGRAM IN PUBLIC ACCOUNTING Overview of the Combined Program The Accounting Department offers an accelerated 150- credit Combined B.B.A./M.B.A. Program for highly qualified students who wish to prepare for the public accounting profession and to earn both the B.B.A. and the M.B.A. in less time than is normally required. It is registered with the New York State Education Department as meeting both the current education requirements for CPA licensure and the new 150-credit hour requirement, which will be implemented in New York State as of August 1, 2009. Graduates of the Combined Program satisfy the current requirements for the one-year CPA experience waiver in New York State. The program also meets the educational requirements for admission to the CPA Examination in most other states, including those, which require 150 credit hours. Full-time students will be able to complete the Com- bined Program in five years, or four years with additional summer study. Admission Requirements Admission to the Combined B.B.A./M.B.A. Program originates at the undergraduate level. Candidates may be admitted conditionally to the program directly from high school. In order to qualify for direct admission, candidates are required to have a minimum high school average of 90% and a combined SAT score of 1125 or an equivalent score on the ACT. Students wishing to transfer into the program from another college or university must have achieved at least a 3.20 CQPA at their previous school. All transfer students will be required to fulfill a residency requirement of at least 32 credits at the undergraduate level. Continuing students applying to change their major to the Combined Program are required to have at least a 3.20 CQPA for admission. One semester prior to the completion of the undergraduate portion, students apply for admission to the graduate portion of the program. Admission to the M.B.A. program requires a minimum CQPA of 3.20 for all undergraduate work completed at Pace and a minimum score of 525 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Conferring of Degrees Students will be awarded both the B.B.A. and M.B.A. upon completion of the Combined Program.
