Academic Calendar 2004–2005 Subject to change AUGUST 2004 19 Thursday CLOSE OF SUMMER SESSION II 2004. All University Residence Halls close at 5:00 p.m. All remaining “I” grades for Summer Session I 2004 changed to “I-F.” SEPTEMBER 2004 5 Sunday Residence halls open—Pleasantville/Briarcliff new students. 6 Monday Labor Day—University holiday—offices closed. Residence halls open—Pleasantville/Briarcliff—returning students. Residence halls open—all New York City residential students. 6–10 Monday–Friday   Welcome Week for new students. 8 Wednesday FALL 2004 UNDERGRADUATE AND GRADUATE CLASSES BEGIN. 14 Tuesday Candidates for graduation in June 2005 or September 2005 must file “Application for Graduation” on or before this date. 15 Wednesday Last day to register or add fall 2004 semester classes without approval. Rosh Hashanah Eve.—no evening classes scheduled. 16 Thursday First day of Rosh Hashanah—no day or evening classes scheduled. 22 Wednesday Last day for undergraduate students to file Pass/Fail or Audit option for Fall 2004 semester. 23 Thursday Last day for full-time domestic students registering in fall 2004 to waive out of the University Mandatory Health Insurance Plan. 24 Friday Yom Kippur Eve.—no evening classes scheduled. 25 Saturday Yom Kippur—no day or evening classes scheduled. 30 Thursday All remaining “I” grades for Summer Session II 2004 changed to “I-F.” OCTOBER 2004 7 Thursday Fall 2004 deadline for MMR and Meningitis Immunization Response Compliance. 11 Monday Columbus Day—day and evening classes scheduled. NOVEMBER 2004 2 Tuesday Election Day—no day or evening classes scheduled. 3 Wednesday Last day to withdraw from fall 2004 semester classes without academic approval. 11 Thursday Veterans Day—day and evening classes scheduled. 17 Wednesday Last day to withdraw from fall 2004 semester classes with academic approval. 24–28 Wednesday– Thanksgiving recess—no day, evening, or weekend classes scheduled. Sunday 25–28 Thursday– University Holiday—offices closed. Sunday 29 Monday Thanksgiving recess ends—classes resume—offices open. DECEMBER 2004 13 Monday Study Day—No day undergraduate classes scheduled. Evening final examinations begin. 17 Friday Day final examinations begin. 23 Thursday Final examinations end. All Residence Halls close at 5:00 p.m. New York City and Pleasantville/Briarcliff. CLOSE OF FALL 2004 SEMESTER. 24–31 Friday–Friday University holiday break—offices closed. Grade updates will not be available from December 24, 2004, to January 3, 2005.
