Faculty Affairs committee was also asked to look into the possibility of conducting Final Exams on the last day of class rather than during final exam week.
Guest Speakers:
Patrick Love, Associate Provost for Student Success
Dr Love discussed his plans for student success. He outlined many of the programs that have already been started and included a handout for review. It covered the completed projects inlcuding the New Transfer Student Outreach; Project in process such as an academic advising website and a four year advising and planning framework; and what is Getting Started such as Commuter Student Experience Task Force and a Departmental Analysis of Retention. This handout also included facts on what is known about retention, what he believes, and how we can assist in increasing our student satisfaction. The main message was that each person can try to be a problem solver for the student without transfering them all over campus. Try to help the student with their question, make that phone call or the initial contact for the student. Also we can provide feedback directly to Dr. Love to help his office improve and be more effective.
