February 2006 meeting minutes

Minutes of the Pleasantville/Briarcliff
Administrative Staff Council Meeting

Wednesday, February 1, 2006
Butcher Suite, Kessel Campus Center, Pleasantville

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 am by Susan Deigan, co-chair. Introductions were made. Minutes of the last meeting were approved.

Announcements:

  • The Westchester Knitting/Crocheting Circle is resuming it meetings on Thursdays from 12 to 2 in the Mortola Library.  It is open to faculty, staff and students who know how to knit or crochet or who want to learn.
  • The American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day drive is set for a delivery date of March 23, 2006. The cost will be $10 per bouquet with vases sold separately.   • A 1:00 pm lunch and fashion show at Bloomingdale’s will be held on March 25, 2006 to benefit the Susan B. Koman Breast Cancer foundation. Connie Serafin can be contacted for more information.
  • Through a recent grant, and with Nita Lowy’s assistance, the Leinhard School of Nursing will be providing students in Westchester County with information in health careers.
  • President Caputo has approved 8 hours of volunteering for full time employees in a 6 month period and 4 hours for part time employees.
  • 100 Opportunities for service and civic engagement can be accessed through completing an online form at www.pace.edu/100opportunities
  • A staff/faculty event for the spring is set for March 10th. We’ll be painting the Don Bosco Community Center. This center provides soup kitchen, food pantry and youth services to the community. Guest Speaker:
A representative from Earth Share had been scheduled to speak, but was unable to attend.

Committee Reports and Status:
Sign up sheets for each of the committees were passed around again to give another opportunity for members to join.

  • Benefits Committee – Phyllis Bradbury said that if anyone is concerned about the increased payroll contribution for medical coverage they can contact her. She stated that the increase is tied to CPI increases (Consumer Price Index.)
  • Picnic Committee – No report
  • Faculty Council – No report
  • Treasurer’s report – Susan Deigan reported the cost of refreshments for today’s meeting as $90.00 Further information can be provided at next month’s meeting.
