Minutes of the Administrative Staff Council
Wednesday October 3, 2007

Announcements:

Carol Turco - SDACA – The yearbook accepting names for dedications for faculty, staff and students – send any nominations to Elaine Scanlon who will forward them to Carol – see handout one

Andrea Winters – Diversity Team – Read statement on the essence of the conference to be held on Nov. 2 – see handout two

Kathi Reczek – Lienhard - Flu shots will be given on 11/6 – possibly in the VIP Room – Goldstein Center – from 12 – 5 PM – cost as of now will be $30. Includes faculty, staff and students. Cost may be partially subsidized – no decision yet. Flu shots in PNY will be on 11/7.

Karen DeSantis – Weight Watchers will be meeting on Thursdays from 1 – 2 in Meeting Room A or B – Kessel Campus Center – need 15 people to do it – if interested, contact Karen or Betsy Garti

Peggy Caraccio – anyone wanting to be added to listserv, send email to mcaraccio@pace.edu

It was requested to pass the word to all staff and students to sign up for e-alerts (https://ealerts.pace.edu/)

Reports:

Treasurer – Christina Conte. Our budget was $4000. We are waiting to hear if the 5% budget reduction affects administrative staff council budgets as well. We have spent $720 for food (breakfast for 20 people for 8 meetings).

Benefits Committee – no report this month

Faculty Council Representative – Karen DeSantis – The next faculty council meeting is on Friday October 5. She will report of this at the next meeting.

Picnic Committee – needs to be formed. Volunteers needed.

Service Committee – no report this month

Guest Speaker John Agnelli - Director – SDACA – see the linked PowerPoint presentation for many details. Some highlights of the talk were:

SDACA is always looking for chaperones for events (especially the upcoming trip to Montreal.

All staff are encouraged to attend as many events as possible - in particular the 50 days and 50 nights events on campus.

Sponsors for students who have nowhere to go on Thanksgiving are being solicited. “Take a student home for Thanksgiving” Look for more information in upcoming emails.

SDACA can write activities/student development transcripts to supplement their academic transcripts
The next meeting is Wednesday November 7, 2007.
