Summer Funded Internships: Since 2009, the Center has placed and funded 79 full-time summer internships at unique and innovative nonprofits and social enterprises. Each intern is paid a $4,200 stipend for the summer, resulting in $331,800 in funding over the last six years. Hosts include Trust for Public Land, The F.B. Heron Foundation, and The Corona Youth Music Project. For Summer 2014, the Wilson Center received 216 applications for 13 positions at New York social enterprises and nonprofit organizations.
Student Run Fund Appropriations Committee: 8 student leaders allocate $84,000 in funding each year- 20 internships- by reviewing and selecting intern hosts and positions.
Student Research Assistants: The Center host 2 to 3 student research assistants each year. They have a 100% graduation and job placement rate.
Student Sponsorship is offered for all co-sponsored events and conferences.
More than 10 unique student social ventures have been launched with the support of the Wilson Center since 2005. Pace Pitch Contest Social Venture winners have been awarded over $26,000 in prizes.
A Conversation On...
This year in our speaker series, we hosted five leaders from Grameen America, Kiva Zip USA, Impact America, and MicroRate, on topics ranging from evaluating performance in microfinance to impact investing and person-to-person lending.
The Wilson Center is proud to partner on events and activities with MPA Student Association (MPASA) and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).
SE in Residence
Each year, the Wilson Center hosts a Social Enterprise in Residence; our current Social Enterprise in Residence is Impact America. Past year residents include DonorsChoose, Greyston Foundation and Bakery and Stoked Mentoring.
