Provost Welcomes Rebecca Tekula
It gives me great pleasure to announce that after an extensive search Ms. Rebecca Tekula has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Helene and Grant Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship. Her start date was September 15, 2008. The Wilson Center at Pace University was established in 2005 with funding from the Carlisle Foundation.
The Wilson Center’s mission is to serve students and nonprofit organizations with education, research, communication, and advisory services towards the goal of more effective and efficient nonprofit management practices. The Wilson Center enables the University to integrate its variety of nonprofit organizational development programs into a single center. This enhances Pace’s ability to evolve into a national center focused on improvement and effectiveness of nonprofit management.
Ms. Tekula is completing her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Lugano, Switzerland where her research is focused in the area of Social Enterprise (its Evolution, Earned Income and Management Incentive Impacts on Program Efficiency) and nonprofit management (Trustee Fiduciary Duties, Donative Transfers of Stock and Performance Measurements). She earned her B.A. at Vassar College, her M.B.A. from the University of Oxford, and her M.P.A. degree at Pace University. Ms. Tekula has a solid background in New York City philanthropy and across the nonprofit sector. Her most recent academic appointment was at the University of Lugano’s Institute for Microeconomics and Public Economics where she was a Research Associate and lectured in the areas of Nonprofit and Public Management. She has also been a Visiting Lecturer at Pace University’s M.P.A. seminar in social entrepreneurship and Pace’s seminar at Oxford’s Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship. Her most recent professional appointment was the executive director role at the I.F.C., New York, the Diversity Awareness and Education NGO.
Rebecca is uniquely qualified to continue the growth of the center and focus its mission in exciting ways. Under Ms. Tekula’s leadership, the Wilson Center is poised to become a recognized source for the best practices in the entrepreneurial management of non-profit organizations and a leader in the identification and training of those entrepreneurs. I ask you to join me in welcoming Rebecca in her new position as Executive Director
