Embedded Tutoring Support

The request of embedded tutors  will be suspended for the 2020 - 2021 academic year.  Any embedded tutoring services will be directly discussed with Deans and Department Chairs.

Embedded Tutors (ET) will be provided for the following types of class sections at the 100 or 200 levels only:

Flipped Classroom/large amount of in-class problem sets:

  • Classroom size under 36 students
  • One or both class sessions would be mainly problem based
  • Large amount of student group work
  • Historically high level of struggling students

Large Lectures:

  • Lectured based with over 40 students
  • Generally, helps support in addition to faculty office hours
  • Historically high level of struggling students

General focus/requirements of an Embedded Tutor (ET)

The ET attends class regularly, either once or twice a week pending agreement between the Center and Faculty member or academic department.  In addition, the ET is required to complete at least six hours of weekly tutoring within the LC.  For student access, the ET work schedule will be listed in TutorTrac and they should provide it to the faculty member directly as well.  The responsibilities of the ET are also outlined below:
