Graduation Requirements

To graduate from the Occupational Therapy program, students must:

  • Have a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Complete all OT courses with a grade of C or better.
  • Successfully complete each Fieldwork Level I and Level II experience.
  • Successfully complete research capstone project, research manuscript, and presentation.
  • Complete the program within 4 years maximum.

Certification and Credentialing Requirements

Graduates of an ACOTE-accredited OT program will be eligible to sit for the national certification examination for the occupational therapist, administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). After successful completion of this exam, the graduate will be an occupational therapist, registered (OTR). In addition, most states require licensure to practice; however, state licenses are usually based on the results of the NBCOT certification examination. A felony conviction may affect a graduate’s ability to sit for the NBCOT certification examination or attain state licensure.
