Interprofessional Event Brings CHP Students Together To Discuss Ethics

On August 1, nursing and PA students taking an ethics course saw and discussed the film “Made in India” with the director and producer.  The documentary -- about surrogacy in India and the ethical dilemmas involved in medical tourism – sparked insightful comments and questions.

There were 40 ABSN students, 75 PA students, and 6 faculty members in attendance.  Students were assigned to tables of three or four nursing students and six PA students at each table, and they immediately started talking, learning about each other’s programs, and took on a team approach to answering the discussion questions.  According to nursing professor Joanne Knoesel MSN, RN-BC, CNE, “This is the first event our IPE (interprofessional education) committee is having, with hopes of many more events to come.”
