PA Student Blood Drive
The Pace University-Lennox Hill Hospital Physician Assistant Program organized a successful blood drive with the American Red Cross at Pace University on March 11. As a result of months of preparation and efforts of the students and staff, hundreds of pints of blood were donated. PA students also ran a bone marrow donor sign up station, where potential donors swabbed their cheeks in hopes of being a life-saving match with a person in need. Physician Assistant students worked together with the American Red Cross staff to ensure the event ran smoothly, recruiting donors, and spreading the word through the university and lower Manhattan. PA students also educated participants on how crucial donating blood is to those who need it and explained the process behind becoming a bone marrow donor.
A special thanks to Nadya Tsytsyna and Ashley Curaba for their leadership in organizing this event. Thanks to the American Red Cross and PA students from the class of 2016 and 2017, and program staff who came together to make this event a great success.
